SAUNA AREA

State-of-the-art wellness at ZILLERTALERHOF

When fresh spring water meets hot stones at the HOF SPA, the most beautiful aspects of relaxation await you.  Sauna culture has a long tradition in the Tyrol, because sweating keeps you fit, helps you stay young, purifies the body, cleanses the skin and strengthens your immune system. Additional massages, peelings, cures and cosmetic products work better and more effectively. The HOF SPA at ZILLERTALERHOF combines a full spa programme with state-of-the-art sauna facilities: With a genuine Alpine herbal steam bath (45-55 °C at almost 100% humidity) in black marble, a Finnish sauna with professionally applied infusions (approx. 90-110 °C at 10-30% humidity), gentle deep breathing in our bio-sauna (45-60 °C at 30-55% humidity) and infrared treatments for soothing deep warmth. And afterwards: Three relax-areas with ergonomic feel-good couches, a sonic water fountain, open-air garden, aromatic shower and heated pool. And alternatively our HOF BAR is always just a wish away.

Guidelines for healthy & proper sauna use at the HOF SPA

Shower first, sweat afterwards.  Helps to gradually bring the body up to the right temperature, as the skin is already wet.

Enter the sauna only with a towel. Swimwear can get unpleasantly hot, even flip flops should be left outside.

Greet other guests. Sauna-goers greatly value good manners and respect.

Set a timer. A healthy sauna session lasts between ten and fifteen minutes. But you’re always welcome to get up and leave when you’ve had enough.

Choose the right seating height. It’s hottest at the top and coolest at the bottom. Lying down is fine as long as you don’t disturb anyone.

Maintain silence. Considerate sauna enthusiasts shroud themselves in a veil of silence while they sweat.

No sweat on wood. Use your towel for sitting and sweating, and your bathrobe for afterwards.

Only water on stone. Please don’t put any towels, foreign objects or liquids on the stones.

Breathe deeply. Hot steam opens the lungs, cleanses the airways and stimulates your circulation.

Move around with caution. Sweating is exhausting and makes walking slippery.

Relax. Take a reasonable break after the sauna until your heartbeat has returned to normal.

Cool down. Cool yourself off with a quick aromatic shower and then relax in the pool or take a soothing sunbath.

Drink plenty. Sweating makes you thirsty, tea and fresh mountain spring water replenish lost fluids.

Take a rest.  Make sure to rest for at least thirty minutes between each sauna session, giving your body time to regenerate.
