Raunächte (Smoky Nights)
The period from 24 December to 5 January is very special, as it is when the Raunächte (Smoky Nights) are celebrated. An important ritual during this time is the cleansing of houses and yards with the help of incense blends. This protects the buildings from evil spirits. During this time, the old year is bid farewell and wishes and good fortune for the new year are confirmed.
